Wer gestalten darf, ist glücklich. Wenn sich die Dinge, die vorerst nur in meinem
Kopf vorhanden sind, konkretisieren und schließlich in ihrer ganzen Haptik
vor mir liegen, das ist besonders. Es ist, als ob sich die unterschiedlichen Eindrücke
meiner Umwelt in meinem Geist zu Schmuckstücken formen.
Alles ist Inspiration. Die Form eines Oldtimers, der
schneebedeckt im Hof unseres Ateliers steht. Die Silhouette
eines ungeschmückten Nackens. Ein Film, ein Bildband,
eine Ausstellung, eine Reise. Selbst Musik nimmt in meinem
Kopf Formen an. So haben mich Antony & the Johnsons
mit ihren wunderschönen melancholischen Songs zu
den schweren Steinketten geführt, die sich seither in jeder
Kollektion fortsetzen, ob ich will oder nicht.
Der Schatz der Inspiration scheint unergründlich. Obwohl ich bei jeder Kollektion
denke: „So, das wars, jetzt fällt mir nichts mehr ein!“ Und dann passiert
in der Produktionsphase jede Saison das gleiche Phänomen. Statt an der immer
dringenden Fertigung der bestellten Teile mitzuwirken, fange ich an, neue Formen
zu entwickeln, mit Material zu experimentieren.
In den weiteren Phasen des Entwurfs konkretisiert sich das Modell. Wir verändern
es hin zur Tragbarkeit, spielen mit den Farben der kommenden Saison,
entscheiden, was wichtig ist und worauf wir verzichten werden.
Ist die Kollektion fertig, treffen wir Einkäufer und Inhaber von Fashionstores
aus aller Welt. Durch ihr Auswahlkonzept bekommt unsere Kollektion ein
weiteres Gesicht. Der Schmuck unterstützt oder bricht Farbkonzepte, komplettiert
Outfits, intensiviert oder löst einen Look. Dabei wählt jeder anders.
Und ganz großartig ist das Gefühl, Damen zu sehen, die unseren Schmuck
tragen, egal, durch welche Stadt ich gerade gehe oder wo ich abends aus bin. Ich
muss ehrlich sagen, es sieht immer wunderschön aus. Es ist, als ob der Schmuck
durch seine Trägerin schließlich zum Leben erweckt wird.

Lucky, who is free to design. When things, that primarily exist only in my head,
are specifi ed and fi nally become concrete objects, it‘s a special moment. It‘s as if the
diverse impressions of my surrounding world are shaped in my mind and become
real pieces of jewellery.
Everything is inspirational. The shape of a snow-covered old timer in the yard of our studio.
The silhouette of an unadorned neck. A fi lm, a picture book, an exhibit,
a trip. Even music unfolds into shapes in my head. That way the wonderfully
melancholic songs of Antony & the Johnsons led to the creation of the big stone
chains that have since found their way into each collection – no matter if I
wanted it or not.
The treasure of inspiration seems unsearchable. Although with every new collection
I think: “That‘s it, my creativity is exhausted!“ And then the same phenomenon
occurs again each season during production phase. Instead of working on the urgent
fi nalization of pre-ordered pieces, I start developing new shapes, experimenting
with new materials.
In continuing draft phases the shape become more substantial. We alternate it
to wearability, we play with the colours of the upcoming season, and we decide what is
important and what can be abandoned.
Once the collection is finished, we meet with buyers and the owners of fashion
stores from all around the world. Through their selection concept, our collections get
a different complexion. The jewellery supports and breaks with colour concepts,
entire outfi ts, intensifi es and loosens the look. Each choice is different.
And then I love the feeling, when I see women wearing our jewellery – no
matter in which city I walk or where I go out at night. I must truly say, it always
looks stunning. It‘s as if the jewellery is really made alive by the one wearing it.
